Mandurah has overtaken the City of Perth as the No. 1 destination for day trips within Western Australia.  The latest Tourism Research Australia figures have been released and show the local government area of City of Mandurah ranking at #1 with 1,975,000 day trip visitors, leading City of Perth at 1,906,000 and City of Swan at 995,000.

Mandurah has been chosen as one of Australia’s 50 Best Small Towns by online travel website Discount My Flights. The company, which is an affiliate of Flight Network, ran a nationwide contest attracting 172 entries from around Australia. Mandurah and Peel Tourism Organisation (MAPTO) created and submitted the application for Mandurah that resulted in the town being chosen in the top rankings.

ATEC Travel Agents Cruise Into Peel

More than 25 key inbound tour operators enjoyed a calm water dolphin cruise of the canals and waterways of Mandurah on a perfect morning recently. The group, who were visiting Western Australia to take part in Extraordinary Tourism Exchange (ETE) were treated to a Mandurah Cruises experience to showcase the Peel waterways and inlet. The tourism sector is buoyant, with three new businesses recently starting up in leisure tourism and corporate hospitality. Near Pinjarra, James and Karen Fuller have opened a farmstay business, Ibis Park Farm. The Mandurah Indoor Rock Climbing Centre is open offering memberships, group bookings as well as rock climbing classes and Brad Smith has launched Brad’s Cruzin’ with his 20 seater bus available around the region.

Destination Guide Showcases Peel

A newly launched visitor destination guide produced by Mandurah and Peel Tourism Organisation Inc. (MAPTO) incorporates improvements designed to disperse visitors throughout the Peel and
increase their length of stay.

The 2016 Anytime Adventures Peel destination guide was released this month, and 30,000 copies are being distributed via visitor centres, accommodation providers and outlets frequented by visitors. MAPTO’s chairman Leighton Yates said this year’s guide contained improvements as a result of consumer research conducted by MAPTO.

CEO Of MAPTO Resigned

Steven Holle has resigned from his role as CEO of Mandurah and Peel Tourism Organisation (MAPTO) to pursue other interests.

MAPTO Chair Leighton Yates said the current board is highly engaged with the day to day operations of the region’s peak tourism body and that the Directors would fill the operational requirements until the position can be re-advertised and a suitable candidate appointed.

Public Art Trail Brochures Launched for Mandurah

Ninebot Tours Take Off In Mandurah

Tourism Visitors to Peel Up

Mandurah, WA. 07 July 2014 Domestic tourism is a key economic driver within the Peel region, and it’s on the rise according to newly released data by Tourism Research Australia (TRA). The data shows overnight visitor numbers to the Peel region grew strongly in the quarter ended December 2013 to a record 138,000 visitors. The growth also means annual tourism numbers for the year ended 2013 have turned a corner, reversing a previous downward trend.
