Weekend Notes – Destination and experiences articles

MAPTO hosted Weekend Notes journalist in January 2018 to experience tours with Mandjoogoordap Dreaming, Jet-xtreme Segways and Mandurah Cruises, dinner at Redmanna and accommodation at The Sebel. Ostar Media Group – Oriental Post regional promotion

After several meetings, MAPTO, City of Mandurah and Mandurah Cruises have forged a strong new partnership with Ostar Media group which has resulted in the destination, tourism product and events to be featured in their media platforms over the coming months, including the Oriental Post newspaper, Chinese Radio FM90.5 FM104.5, Oriental Lifestyle website and Wechat. Ostar targets the 50,000 plus Perth Chinese community which totals at least 50,000 plus audiences in China, Hong Kong, Macau and South East Asia through their digital channels. Promotional activities already taking place include Mandurah Cruises hosting the group on a Wild Seafood Experience cruise with videos and images of the trip to be posted online by Ostar, City of Mandurah arranging an interview with the Mayor to air on their radio station and advertising of upcoming events and weekly editorial content on the destination in the Oriental Post. Sir Paul McCartney Swim with Dolphins in Mandurah

During Sir Paul McCartney’s Perth concert in December 2017 he told a story of how he was once joined by dolphins when swimming at a Mandurah beach with this family. He was so moved by the experience he he sang to them. View him telling the story at the 1:50 min mark of the video here.

Sunday Times – Ready 4 Adventure

The Sunday Times Escape Travel Magazine included a guide in their 10 Dec 2017 edition to discovering adventure experiences in the Peel Region and Mid West. The guide included general information on ther region as well as highlighting several events, the best beaches for swimming, cruise experiences, Christmas Canal Lights, Serpentine National Park, Lane Poole Rserve and the Bibbulmun Track. WA’s ‘golf coast’ being recognised

Channel 7’s Today Tonight reports that Mandurah & the Peel Region has three of the best golf courses in Australia and we are known as the ‘golf coast’. Out of our eight courses, we have three included in the Great Golf Courses of Australia program: The Cut Golf Course, Meadow Springs Golf & Country Club and Secrets Golf were the first in WA to be included. Mandurah’s magic Christmas displays

Channel 7’s Today Tonight Perth did a story on the wishing well on the Mandurah Christmas Canals which raises funds for Rotary Club of Mandurah. Every year the Port Mandurah Residents Association put on an amazing decoration of their homes, turning our Mandurah Canals into a fairyland for the residents and visitors who Visit Peel. Mandurah Cruises, Mandurah Boat & Bike Hire Eco BBQ Boats are all offering diverse canal lights cruises. You can watch the story here.

Culinary Cruising Mandurah Crab Fest

Mandurah Crab Festival has been featured in Australia’s leading marine lifestyle magazine Club Marine in their Dec – Jan 2018 edition. In the four page article the writer highlights where to stay, what to do and where to eat in Mandurah during the festival. The article also features a top tip for visiting Mandurah’s annual Crab Fest and a recipes on how to cook the famous Mandurah blue swimmer crab and Redmanna’s chilli plum crab. Peel Region featured on Sky Business News’ Travel Show

In August, MAPTO hosted freelance journalist Michelle Hespe in the Peel Region. Michelle was visiting WA on a famil hosted by Tourism WA for the Cinefestoz Festival, representing Mindfood magazine. MAPTO took the opportunity to meet Michelle to highlight experiences and the filming of Three Summers in the region by hosting her for lunch at Millbrook Winery.

Michelle was recently interviewed on Sky Business New’s travel tv show, Business Class, about her visit to Margaret River. As part of the interview, Michelle also spoke of Three Summers and Millbrook Winery. See the full interview below.
