The Australian Tourism Accreditation Program (ATAP) is a national business development program which provides businesses with the necessary tools and resources to update and improve their business policies and procedures to ensure ongoing sustainability and the implementation of best practice.
It is the only accreditation program in Australia available to all types of businesses and tourism products operating in the visitor economy, ranging from attractions to boutique accommodation, large hotel chains, 4WD tours, cafes, zoos and retail shops.
The program has been delivered as a fully standardised online program across all Australian states since April 2015, when the New South Wales and Queensland peak tourism industry bodies committed to the delivery of the program, marking a historical juncture for tourism in Australia.
With more than 4,000 businesses currently participating in the Australian Tourism Accreditation Program around Australia, it is the largest program of its kind in the country. In Western Australia, ATAP is delivered by Tourism Council WA.
